Announcement: 2025 Public Domain Allotments Conference, May 2025

In May 2025, the California Public Domain Allottee Association (CAPDAA), the University of California in Davis, and California Indian Legal Services (CILS) will hold our second annual public domain allottees conference at Rolling Hills Casino and Resort in Corning, California. At the conference, we will provide legal and mapping assistance as well as provide a space for people to share their knowledge of allottee experiences and related research. We look forward to gathering!

2024 California Public Domain Allotments Conference a Success!

In August 2024, the California Public Domain Allottee Association (CAPDAA) and the University of California in Davis held the first ever conference to support California Indian public domain allottees and descendants in the nation with support from California Indian Legal Services.  At a two-day gathering at Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lemoore, California, our team provided allottees with technical assistance including legal support and maps of their allotments. This event was wonderfully attended, with over 100 people present.

California Climate Action Seed and Matching Award is Supporting our Community-Engaged Work

We are delighted to have received a California Climate Action Seed and Matching Award for Planning Landscape Resilience for California Indian Allotment Lands. The project, whose principal investigator is Dr. Beth Rose Middleton Manning, is working to improve understanding of the condition and climate risks to California Indian Public Domain Allotments, in order to support Indian allottees to steward and enhance allotments in the face of climate change.
